US-China Trade Dispute
US-China trade dispute, also known as US-China trade war, US-China trade frictions, are important issues in US-China economic relations. Trade disputes mainly occur in two aspects: one is China's export sector with comparative advantages; the other is China's lack of superior import and technical knowledge. The former is basically competitive, while the latter is not fully functioning in the market. They have different effects on the economic welfare and long-term development of the two countries.
At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Commerce held on the afternoon of September 6, 2018, some media pointed out that the United States intends to impose tariffs on China's 200 billion US exports of goods, and the Ministry of Commerce clearly responded that it would counter.
On September 9, the Chinese side submitted an application for trade retaliation authorization to the WTO.
On September 24, 2018, the State Council Information Office issued a white paper entitled "Facts on Sino-US Trade Frictions and China's Position."
On the evening of December 1, 2018, Wang Yi indicated at the meeting that the heads of state of China and the United States reached a consensus and stopped adding new tariffs to each other.
On May 10, 2019, the US has raised the tariff of 200 billion US dollars of Chinese exports to the United States from 10% to 25%. The Chinese side deeply regrets that it will have to take necessary countermeasures.
