The Basler Electric DECS-250 / DECS-250-LN1SN1N is a compact digital excitation control system designed for precise regulation of synchronous generators and motors. It delivers excitation power at 32 Vdc, 63 Vdc, or 125 Vdc, with full-load continuous currents of 15 Adc (up to 20 Adc at temperatures up to 55°C). The system supports 1- or 3-phase input, nominal input voltages of 60 Vac, 120 Vac, or 240 Vac, and withstands harsh operating conditions, including shocks up to 15 G and vibrations of 5 G across a broad frequency range.
The DECS-250 provides advanced excitation control with true RMS voltage and current sensing, full generator metering, and multiple operational modes including Automatic Voltage Regulation, Field Current Regulation, Field Voltage Regulation, Power Factor, and Var control. Integrated generator protection covers over/under voltage (27/59), over/under frequency (81O/U), reverse power (32R), overcurrent (51F), field faults, sync check (25), and other critical parameters. Optional features such as an integrated power system stabilizer (PSS) and auto-tuning with two PID stability groups enhance system stability and grid compliance.
Designed for flexibility and reliability, the DECS-250 allows load sharing over Ethernet, provides trending, oscillography, and sequence-of-events recording, and supports extensive I/O expansion via modules such as the AEM-2020 Analog Expansion Module and CEM-2020 Contact Expansion Module. Its compact form factor, configurable protection, and conformal coating for internal circuitry make it a cost-effective, high-performance solution for modern generator excitation control applications.
