The Bihl+Wiedemann BWU1777 is an AS-i 3.0 PROFIBUS DP gateway designed to provide efficient communication between AS-i networks and PROFIBUS systems. Featuring two integrated AS-i 3.0 masters, the module enables simultaneous management of two AS-i circuits using a single gateway and one shared AS-i power supply. The device supports PROFIBUS communication according to IEC 61158, with automatic baud rate detection ranging from 9.6 KBaud up to 12000 KBaud. Through DP functionality, AS-i slave data is mapped directly as I/O data within the PROFIBUS system, allowing full diagnosis and configuration via the DP master.
The Bihl+Wiedemann BWU1777 is built for industrial reliability, offering integrated diagnostics such as AS-i earth fault detection, noise detection, and duplicate address recognition. A clear LCD display provides real-time information including slave addresses and error codes, while multiple LED indicators give immediate status feedback for power, communication, and configuration conditions.
