The Experion Series 8 C300 controller is the core of the Experion control system. It deterministically executes control strategies, performs batch operations, and connects to local and remote I/O interfaces, while directly running custom programmable applications. This compact controller requires no additional interface/communication modules; all control execution and communication functions are integrated within the controller module.
The C300 controller runs the field-proven Deterministic Control Execution Environment (CEE), the core software of the C300, providing robust and powerful control capabilities for distributed control systems (DCS). Control strategies are configured and loaded into the C300 controller using Control Builder, an easy-to-use engineering tool.
The C300 controller is in the Series 8 form factor and includes an Input/Output Terminal Assembly (IOTA) and an electronic module that mounts and connects to the IOTA. A single C300 controller module and its IOTA contain all control and communication functions. The C300 IOTA contains only passive components such as FTE address switches, FTE cable connectors, and I/O Link cable connectors. Figure 1 below illustrates the components of the IOTA.
