Generic I/O Modules
The Generic IO Module (GIO) handles the communication between Fieldbus 

Communication Interface (FCI) and the Signal Conditioning Modules (SCM). 

It communicates upstream with the FCI using Modulebus, and downstream 

with up to 16 SCMs.

HART
The GIO module supports HART Device Variable (HART DV) and can store up 

to two HART Device Variables for each SCM that supports HART. The GIO 

reads all enabled HART variables from the SCMs. The FCI can then read the 

HART variables via the Modulebus.

Redundancy
A second GIO (of the same type) can be used to achieve redundancy. In a 

redundant GIO configuration, one of the GIO modules will operate in primary 

mode and the other in backup mode.
