It is also used to measure shaft displacement, capturing both static and dynamic position changes to help identify conditions such as misalignment, rotor instability, or abnormal clearance behavior. In addition, when integrated with a Keyphasor system, the probe provides once-per-revolution reference signals that support accurate speed measurement and phase analysis. It plays a critical role in machinery condition monitoring by continuously tracking the operational behavior of turbines, compressors, motors, and other rotating equipment, enabling early detection of mechanical issues such as imbalance, looseness, and bearing degradation. The probe also serves as an input device for protection systems within the Bently Nevada 3300 platform, supplying real-time data used for alarm triggering and machinery shutdown decisions.
