The ABB FLON-01 LONWORKS® Adapter Module is an optional interface that allows seamless integration of ABB drives into a LONWORKS® network. Designed for mounting into the option slot of the drive, the module supports IP20 protection and operates under the ambient conditions specified for the drive in its manuals. It features three bicolor LEDs (HOST, MODULE, NETWORK) to provide clear operational and network status indications.
The FLON-01 module enables a wide range of drive control functions over the LONWORKS® network. Through this adapter, users can send commands to start, stop, or enable drive operation, feed motor speed or frequency references, provide process actual values or setpoints to the drive PID controller, and read status information and actual values directly from the drive. It also supports resetting drive faults and interacting with other nodes on the network.
Connectivity is facilitated via a 20-pin connector to the drive (X2) and a 3-pole detachable screw terminal block (X1). The module is powered by the drive itself, with an input voltage of +3.3 V DC (+/- 5%), and the bus interface is functionally isolated from the drive to ensure safe and reliable communication. The FLON-01 also complies with EMC standards EN 61000-6-4:2001 and EN 61800-3:2004.
The ABB FLON-01 LONWORKS® Adapter Module supports the open LONWORKS® serial communication protocol, enabling data exchange among intelligent devices, or nodes, in a network. Each node is capable of responding to inputs and producing outputs, and the FLON-01 allows the ABB drive to become a fully functional node in a network of up to 32,385 nodes divided into 255 subnets. The module uses the FT-X1 Free Topology Transceiver, compatible with FTT-10A transceivers, supporting star, bus, and loop wiring over twisted pair cable at 78 kbit/s.
By enabling drive control and feedback integration into the network, the FLON-01 module allows automation systems to perform complex, coordinated tasks with minimal hardware. Its modular design ensures easy installation on ABB drives, and its support for network variables and communication functions provides flexibility for advanced process control, building automation, and industrial monitoring applications.
